Fall 2009 Trends – Part VII: Sheath Dress
We will thank First Lady Michelle Obama for this trend. All summer long she was spotted in great sheath dresses. And now this fall, you can get that First Lady look too.

How to Wear It
Like Michelle does in many of her pictures, pair it with other trends from the season — pearls, boyfriends sweaters (cardigans), skinny belts. This look is easy, clean and simple.
Where to Buy It
Designers and stores couldn’t stock enough of them for this fall. You will find them everywhere, including the now more stylish Spiegel’s and Talbot’s.
Who Can Wear It
Now this dress can be a little tricky to wear and is not be for every body. Because of it’s very straight cut, it isn’t forgiving if your top and bottom tend to be different dress sizes. For example, if you typically wear a size 10 skirt and an 8 eight top (because you have a little more “junk in the trunk”); this dress will be all thrown off. It will be extremely unflattering on top becuase it will be too big. So you could have it altered but determine if it’s worth the spend. You might just be able to take the side seams in to get a perfect fit but if it has lots of darts and other elements, you might just want to pass on the dress. What to do instead? Go for a nice two piece skirt set like the pieces from Target below. This could replicate the look and give you a much better fit.
