Trying to make the most out of your wardrobe but find that keeping up with the latest fashion trends limits the life span of your clothes. Well, here’s a tip, buy trends that extend past one season. So, while that may seem unrealistic or hard, it is easier than you think. So here are 5 trends that I saw at the spring 2012 runway shows during fashion week that you can start wearing now! At least you can get two seasons out of them:
1. Cobalt Blue – where it now in the form of shoes or tops paired with tweed styles or as a “block” to your color-blocking look. Then head into the spring with the same pieces paired with spring’s white suits for a pop of color or as a “block” to spring’s color-blocking looks.
2. Ankle Pants – These sleek pants are great this fall with booties and cardigans and can be transitioned into spring paired with with airy, light blouses.
3. Color-Blocking – Luckily, this was a big trend this past spring so hopefully, you already have pieces that you can carry into fall…red jeans or a bag that you can pair this fall with those cobalt blue shoes and hang on to for next spring too (3 seasons!)
4. Sheaths – Yeah, there back…but really, did they ever go away? Get them in neutral colors and pair them with a blazer or belted cardigan for the fall and then solo in the spring.
5. Tunics - Really, just really short dresses. But this fall you can pair them with full pants…and then come spring, shed the pants and add strappy shoes for a sexy look (if you are daring enough to wear something so short).
