5 Fall Must Have Trends

Last February, as the trends went down the runway, I predicted the ones that would translate into your real life (see Fashion Week Post). Now, while all of them are in play for the season, they aren’t all the MUST HAVES. So I wanted to make sure you kicked off fall being fashion forward so if you can only afford to add a few trends to your closet this season, here are the ones to grab:
- Fabulous Coat — Now of course, a great coat is always on the fall must have list. When you live in cold weather cities, you know that it is likely some people could never see the amazing outfits that you wear under the coat so the coat should be fierce.
- Military — Now this should have you standing at attention, especially since there are so many ways to serve this trend up — color, boots, coat (as mentioned above), gloves (as mentioned below), cargo pants, even bags.
- Flats — I can hear some of you breathing a sigh of relief. This DOES NOT mean that high heels are gone bye bye, it just means they are sharing the spot light with flat shoes and boots.
- Animal Prints — This really should just be a staple because it never really goes away. Some seasons you can find it more prominently in the shoes or purses but this season it is everywhere including dresses, cardigans and belts.
- Red — Jewel tones took over the runway and they made it all the way to the stores so no excuse that you couldn’t find any great items in color this fall. But if you only buy one color…try power red.

- Gloves — Yes, this is another no brainer for fall but this season gloves are such a hot trend that you will not want to take them off when the coat comes off. So grab several and wear them as this season’s newest accessory.
