This makes sense:

Are you short- or long-waisted?

First, why do you care?  Well, it plays a big part in how you chose your clothes to flatter and  balance your body .  For example, if you are long-waisted, you should avoid low rise pants — they make your waist appear even longer.

measuringSecond, how do you figure it out?  Get a measuring tape, of course.  Measure from head to breast (measurement A) and then from breast to hips (measurement B).  If measurement A is larger than B, you are short-waisted.  If measurement B is larger than A, you ar long-waisted.   A = B equals balanced waist.

So what do you do?

  • For short-waisted, you want to length your torso.  What helps?  Choose shirts and jackets that hit below the waist to length the waist line.  Wear vertical lines on top to draw the eyes up and down.  Avoid belts around the real waist line and no high-waisted pants.
  • For long-waisted, you want to shorten-your torso.  What helps? Belts higher on the torso to cut the length of the waist.  Horizontal details to shorten the waist.  Avoiding low-rise pants.

What do you do to balance out your body?
