The Biggest Loser — How to modify your wardrobe for your weight loss.

I just read an article on “The Biggest Loser Ever” in the December 21, 2009 issue of People. Danny Cahill, 40 years old lost 239lbs. You know that his style and clothing choices were as drastic as his weight loss. He looks good in the “after” photos with slim jeans, tucked in button down shirt and belt. It is critical to consider when you lose weight (and gain weight) how your clothing will accentuate the loss (or gain). So if your New Year’s resolution is losing weight, like many others (including mine but I call them goals…long story for another day) then get prepared to revamp your wardrobe too. A new body deserves a perfect fit! But it doesn’t have to cost you a lot. Here are a few ideas:
Lose a little — not enough to put you in a size smaller but just enough to make you feel better in your clothes (that’s where I am). You can flaunt your more fit body by using belts. Belts help to accentuate your waist and give a fitted look to something that’s a little too big.
- Lose one full clothing size — then tailor your current pieces assuming they were a perfect fit when you were the bigger size. Tailoring will give you a great fit and accentuate your weight loss. If they were too tight, then they just might fit you perfectly now.
- Lose a few clothing sizes — tailoring will be hard and costly so a new wardrobe might be calling but your budget is answering “NO”. Well consider selling your old clothes to consignment shops and spend that money on new pieces OR get a part-time job at one of your favorite clothing stores. Deep employee discounts and your earnings could have you in a new wardrobe in no time.
- Drastic weight loss — you will feel and look much better in a new wardrobe. Consider the same ideas as above (#3) or have a weight loss party. If this drastic loss makes you healthier, I’m sure your friends will be ecstatic enough to add to your wardrobe. You can “register” at your favorite store and put it on the invite.
Happy Weight Loss!
