This makes sense:

Renting designer clothing — this is a trend to follow!

What perfect timing!  We just spent September watching spring designer fashions flaunt down the runway and provided tips on how to take them from runway to your every day.  Now, for that special occasion, you don’t have to search for a knock off look, you can “rent” the real thing.  A new site RenttheRunway.com offers you the chance to rent designer clothing for only a fraction of the cost.  Key points:

  • Cost is 10% of the retail price
  • They send you 2 sizes (don’t want to risk it not fitting for your special occasion)
  • You can rent more than one dress for the same event (a girl needs options)
  • Return it with no fuss in their pre-paid, pre-addressed return envelope

And if this site alone isn’t deal enough, sign up through InStyle.com and the first 1,000 readers will receive 25% off their first purchase.  Makes cents!

Hi, I'm not sure if you are aware, but there is a company in the Chicagoland area that leases couture dresses as well. They don't rent online, you have to go up to Lakeview, (near Leonna's on Belmont and Sheffield). BAD Couture (Borrow A Dress) is a cute little shop with really great owners. I've used them a few times, and so have my coworkers. They also rent purses as well and they were a God send for a gala I went to over the summer. Check them out
