Yesterday was my grandmother’s 100th birthday. As I helped her get dressed for the party, I ran across boxes of pearls. I thought to myself, I should have raided her closet for this season’s hottest jewelry pieces.
Now don’t say you can’t wear pearls. I don’t know a girl who can’t..from 1 to 100. You don’t have to be all prim and proper with that one single strand like Charlotte from Sex and the City. Funk it up with multiple strands and chains of gold.
You can wear them with everything from a sheath dress to leggings to jeans. I rocked a multiple strand version in the airport over a white tank with a fur cropped jacket, jeans and pumps. I don’t know if people thought I was a celebrity (which I am in my own world) or a hooker, but lots of men spoke and lots of women gave me looks.
Where can you find them? Ann Taylor, Bloomingdales, Loehmann’s, Macy’s — I’ve found versions in all of these places for myself or clients in the past few weeks.
