This makes sense:

High Fashion at Kohl’s

When Elle, the magazine of high fashion, has a line of clothing in Kohls, that should tell you that “high fashion DOESN’T have to be high priced.”

This month’s Elle issue (March ’09) is chocked full of Gucci, Louis Vuitton (this bag is incredibley hot — okay I digress but I just LOVE it), Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Salvatore Ferragamo (the heels, all of them, are fabulous), and so many more high-end designers. The editorial featured Swarovski crystal detailed platform sandals by Casadei that are so expensive, “price upon request” was listed. Silk shirts and tops that started at $265, by Adam Lippes and Modernist. Jumpsuits (that are this seasons must have) by Stella McCartney at $2,395 and Proenza Schouler at $975. And then I log on to Kohls.com for similar looks for under $100.

Elle Pleated Dress -- $35.99

Elle Pleated Dress — $35.99

(Except for the Louis bag — no comparison. It is now on my lust list. And no jumpsuits, yet. Plus, make sure you check out the look book because if you look at them sans a body, it doesn’t look that flattering. — Kohl’s, you should work on that.)

But the point is, shop smartly. Use your high fashion magazines for inspiration and then hit lower priced stores for fashion you can afford. You’ll look great without breaking the bank. Make sense?
