I was in Starbucks the other day and noticed a woman carrying a childlike purse. It was cloth with these colorful characters on it. But that’s not really the topic of the post, it’s just what made me look at her. As she stood in front of me and turned around to chat with her friend, I noticed the asymmetrical design of her buttons. Then it dawned on me…it’s not an asymmetrical design, she’s missing buttons from a double-breasted coat! Horrible!!!

By walking around with missing buttons, broken buttons, buttons hanging my a tiny thread; you look tacky, unkempt, like you don’t care, cheapens the outfit, lazy…I could go on. It takes5 minutes or less to sew buttons. Trust me, I know. And if you can’t sew, click her to learn how or take it to the cleaners. If you have a good enough relationship with your cleaners, they may do it for free. Missing buttons are such an easy problem to fix, so why walk around looking sloppy?
Keeping your current wardrobe in tact is not a pricey endeavor either. Now I was just at Joann Fabrics the other day and bought 6 buttons for only $3.20. So sew it on and reap the positive attention that you want. Make sense?
