I love monochromatic looks. Usually one color from head to toe works to make you look pulled together; even when they are not the best pieces. Think about it…all black, brown or even navy can make you look chic. Plus, all one color gives you slimming qualities. Since one color doesn’t break your body into parts, it gives you a continuous vertical line that makes you look slimmer and more stealth.
But when does one color from head to toe not work? Hmmm…
Maybe when it is a bright color and you look like cotton candy instead of chic. Quick story. My producer tells me to carry my camera around all of the time. But on this day, I lef the house without it because I was only running to the store for a quick snack of peanut butter and Ritz crackers, oh how I was craving that. Sorry, I digress. But anyway, this woman in the store, NO LIE, is dressed from head to toe in pink — sweater, pants and Ugg style boots. But she is also wearing an animal print jacket. She looked like a pink bunny carrying a tiger on her back. And I didn’t have a camera to send you a pic. I’ll try to be more diligent. Although the photo might have been to graphic because even as I think about it…whew, it was just too much for me.
YOUR TAKEAWAY?
Keep the all one color outfits to neutral colors: tans, browns, navy, black, and if you’re neat enough go for white. But avoid the bright colors. Really all red suits with red shoes are not in style.
